Federal Student Loan Policies

First-Time Borrowers

First-time UCF borrowers must complete an entrance interview to receive a Federal Stafford Loan. We recommend that students complete the online interview through http://finaid.ucf.edu. Freshmen, first-time borrowers cannot receive their Stafford Loan funds until 30 days after the first day of classes.

Federal Stafford and Federal Plus Loan Application Deadlines:

Fall: October 15
Spring: March 15
Summer: June 15

Federal Perkins Loan

Students will receive a Checklist item on their Financial Aid To Do list on myUCF to sign the "Promissory Note" in the Student Accounts Office (MH 150).

Short-Term Advance

Enrolled students may request a UCF Short-Term Advance to help pay for books or emergencies. Funds may not be used to pay tuition and fees. Applications are available at http://finaid.ucf.edu. STA will be mailed or wired to the student’s checking account, if it has been established on myUCF, within three to five working days.
